Goodwill has announced that it will be opening a new 28,000 square foot retail store at the old Albertsons location in the Juanita neighborhood of Kirkland.
According to the Goodwill press release, the store is the 25th in the central and north Puget Sound region and will open May 21 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. After the doors open, there will be giveaway items for first 200 customers.
The merchandise assortment will appeal to both the budget and fashion conscious, with men’s and women’s apparel, women’s accessories, and home and office décor items, the release states. The store is and will employ approximately 75 individuals.
The new location will begin accepting donations from the community on Feb. 20 and will continue to accept donations once the store opens.
Customers who make purchases at Goodwill stores are supporting Goodwill’s free job training and education programs that help better the lives of people in the community, the release states.
The location is also one of two possible sites for the new fire station for the Kirkland Fire Department after the city considered more than 20 potential sites. The location is still being considered at 9820 Northeast 132nd Street, in front of where the Rite Aid is currently located.
