Grigsby named to APWA

Daryl Grigsby, Public Works director for the City of Kirkland has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Public Works Association (APWA) as Director-at-Large, Environmental Management. Grigsby was recently appointed to the 17-member governing Board of the 29,000 member organization to fill the unexpired term of George Crombie, who was elected to the position of President-Elect during the APWA Congress and Exposition in Columbus, Ohio in September.

As Public Works Director for the City of Kirkland, Grigsby manages a staff of 105 and a $50 million capital and operating budget. Under his direction, the department manages a nationally recognized pedestrian safety program and a solid waste program with the highest single-family recycling rate in King County. Prior to his present position, Grigsby served as Director of King County’s Water and Land Resource Division, Director of Transportation for the City of Seattle, and Director of the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle Wastewater Treatment Department.

For more than a decade, Grigsby has been a member of the Washington State Chapter of APWA. He served at the national level on the Chapter Advocacy Task Force. In 1998, Grigsby received the Washington Chapter’s Roy Morse Award for Excellence in Public Works. He was also recognized nationally as one of APWA’s Top Ten Public Works Leaders earlier this year.
