HealthSource of Kirkland Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab will host a special “Christmas in July” canned food drive during the month of July to help replenish the food bank at Hopelink.
HealthSource doctors are offering a free Community Service Health Screening (a $210 value) in exchange for canned food/non-perishable donations. The 19-point screenings can help track down even the smallest amounts of pain, including those suffering from a wide range of problems such as low back pain, headaches, neck pain, shoulder or arm pain, bulging or herniated discs, leg pain, numbness and more. Even X-rays will be included if necessary.
“Many people don’t realize that this can be one of the toughest times of the year for the local food banks and shelters. We tend to forget about those in need outside of the holiday season. Even though we’re still half-a-year away from the holidays, we thought an early celebration could help jump-start the collections for local food donations,” said HealthSource CEO Dr. Chris Tomshack. “Together, we can all help build a stronger, healthier community.”
Donations will be collected at HealthSource located at 13021 N.E. 85th St. through July 31.
Food banks across the country are reporting a record number of Americans seeking food this year. The USDA reported in November 2009 that an estimated 49 million people, including 17 million children are at risk of hunger.
