Assistance with paying heating bills is still available for eligible low-income households in north and east King County through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered in North and East King County by Hopelink.
Funds remain available to households needing this help. More than 2,300 households in north and east King County have already benefited by the program this winter. Homeowners or renters who need help but have not yet applied for assistance are encouraged to contact Hopelink as soon as possible at 1-800-348-7144 to schedule an appointment.
“We are grateful there are funds still available to North and East King County eligible low-income households to help pay home heating bills even into the spring months,” said Patrick Lawlor, Hopelink’s energy program manager. “During these tough economic times, we have seen increased demand for energy assistance.”
Depending on income and household size, a qualified low-income recipient can receive up to $1,000 in Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program bill credits. For a family of four, the income cap is $2,297 per month. Applications for the program for this year will be taken through August 31, or until the funds run out.
