International Community School Mock Trial Team places fourth in state, again

International Community School’s mock trial team placed sixth at the King County tournament co-sponsored by the YMCA and King County Superior Court.

International Community School’s mock trial team placed sixth at the King County tournament co-sponsored by the YMCA and King County Superior Court. The team was one of only four schools to advance to the state competition held this past weekend in Olympia. The school finished fourth out of the 20 schools competing, the same place they achieved last year. For the second year in a row, the team placed highest of all public school mock trial teams in the state.

“The ICS mock trial team is humbly grateful to have been given this recognition by our fellow/rival teams,” said advisor Ted Over.

For the first time in the team’s 10 years of competition in mock trial, the team won the “2014 Core Values Award.” Each of the twenty teams at the state tournament casts one vote for the team that best represents the YMCA Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.

Four students won “Best Witness” Awards and three students won “Best Attorney” awards:

· Best witnesses: Junior Riley Stockard of Kirkland, freshman Christian Culbert of Redmond, senior Adam Davis of Redmond and senior Clare de Young of Redmond.

· Best attorneys: Senior Rachel Roberts of Kirkland, senior Alexandra Bartos-O’Neill of Sammamish and junior Sonia Jaidka of Redmond.
