Thirty Juanita High School students visited Cascade Engineering Services, Inc., on National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 2. Students toured six areas of the company. They talked with employees who performed testing in each area. Those areas included altitude and decompression, centrifugal force and shake/vibration testing. Failure analysis was one of the students’ favorite activities. The students represented engineering, architecture, material science and computer science classes.
Students visited two Cascade Engineering Services sites: the Reliability and Failure Analysis laboratory in Redmond and the metrology laboratory in Kirkland. The visit was arranged by the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound (CAMPS). This field trip provided students with an opportunity to see what consulting engineers do. It opened their eyes to new career options.
