The Juanita High School baseball team went on a wild rally to nab an 8-7 walk-off win during a KingCo 3A contest against Liberty High on Friday, April 8, in Kirkland.

The Juanita High School baseball team went on a wild rally to nab an 8-7 walk-off win during a KingCo 3A contest against Liberty High on Friday, April 8, in Kirkland.

The Rebels trailed 7-4 headed to the bottom of the fifth inning, but JD Worcester knocked a homer over the right-field fence, scoring himself and Dexter Mell.

Jayson Schroeder struck out three batters during the next two innings for Juanita, capping a three-inning stretch with one hit, one run and six strikeouts.

During the bottom of the seventh inning, Mell tied the game on a single to left field from Carter Rusch with two outs.

Then, with two strikes and runners on first and second, Christian Blackburn hit a grounder up the middle. Liberty’s second baseman mishandled the ball, allowing Blackburn to reach first base and Worchester to score the winning run.

Mell finished with three hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Juanita won dispite comitting five errors in the game.

Next, the Rebels are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 11 at Mercer Island High School.
