King County Councilmember Jane Hague announced Feb. 10 that she will run for re-election to the King County Council.

“I am extremely proud to serve as the Eastside’s advocate. I hope the voters will entrust me with another term so that I can continue to work on their behalf,” Hague said.

She also outlined her priorities for a new term. “We must develop affordable and effective transportation solutions, increase our efforts to protect public safety and never waver in our commitment to responsible, sustainable budgets,” she said.

Hague highlighted her work on the county’s budget.

“King County showed leadership following the 2008 financial crisis by reducing staff, concentrating on core services and working to develop more efficient government — without massive tax increases. I am proud to have been a leader in those efforts,” she said.

Jane Hague represents District 6 which includes the communities of Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, Medina, Clyde Hill, Hunts Point, Beaux Arts, Woodinville, and Yarrow Point. She has been recognized repeatedly for her efforts on behalf of children and quality of life issues that enhance the communities within her district. She has received awards for her commitment and advocacy from the Eastside Human Services Coalition, Kid’s Quest, Youth Eastside Services, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, Kirkland Boys and Girls Club, the Crisis Clinic and several others.

She also serves as Vice Chair of the King County Council, Chair of its Committee of the Whole, Vice Chair of the Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee and member of the Budget and Fiscal Management, Regional Transit, and Regional Water Quality Committees.
