Boys & Girls Clubs of King County is benefiting from a grant from the Ford Fund and six local Ford dealers.
A check was presented to the Kirkland branch on Nov. 26. Ford of Kirkland also providing the club with a brand new, 12-passenger van at a discount of more than 50 percent. The van is critical to transporting young members to and from the club as well as various sporting events.
Other local Ford dealerships participating in this charity effort are Scarff Ford in Auburn, Evergreen Ford in Issaquah, Sound Ford in Renton and Seattle’s Horizon Ford and Bill Pierre Ford.
Operation Better World is an initiative of the Northwest Ford Dealers Advertising Association focused on child hunger. The Boys & Girls Clubs all serve nutritious snacks and in some cases full meals to their young members.
In addition to the $77,500 going to 64 Boys & Girls Clubs across the Pacific Northwest, Ford Focus on Child Hunger also provided $320,000 to regional food banks earlier this year.
