The Boy Scouts of America has honored two brothers from Kirkland for a second time this school year.

Derrek and Dallen Smith, both Eagle Scouts, were chosen as National Eagle Scout Association 2012 Merit Scholarship recipients for the Western region.

Each of the boys has earned scholarship recognition from the association’s Chief Seattle Council – Derrek in 2008, Dallen in 2011. Dallen also earned the 2011 NESA Academic Scholarship Award.

Both are currently attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
