Several thousand drivers and bicyclists use Juanita Drive each day navigating its steep topography and curving alignment and the city of Kirkland has begun a study of the corridor to seek ways to improve it for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic.
The city will hold a community workshop at 6:30 p.m. June 12 at Finn Hill Middle School, 8040 NE 132nd St., to hear ideas on ways to improve the safety and mobility of the corridor that runs from 98th Avenue Northeast to Northeast 143rd Street in Kirkland’s city limits.
Available at the hands-on workshop will be background and traffic data, maps for attendees to mark problem areas along the corridor and information on the decision-making process associated with the Juanita Drive Corridor study. In addition to safety improvements, the corridor study will look to address the corridor’s unique identity, roadway character and natural landscape.
