Meet the Challenge! Kirkland CrossFit Presents the Third Annual Firefighter/Police CrossFit Challenge on July 31 at Northwest University sports field in Kirkland.

CrossFit training is quickly gaining momentum as it continues to enhance the skills and physical ability in firefighters, police and military personnel. Support your local heroes and come out and enjoy a day of fitness and fun!

Hosted by the Northshore Fire Foundation, Kirkland CrossFit Gym and Northwest Burn Foundation, all active and professional firefighters, police and military in Washington State are invited to compete. Registration is $35 for all competitors to compete in one or more events. This event is free of charge to all spectators.

Those interested in participating can register online at www.nwburn.org.

Participants can compete in an individual or strongman competition, team event of two or four people, or all three events. All lifts and movements will be measured by the CrossFit standard and judged by a certified CrossFit Trainer.

Organizers of the event may pull a Hopper style workout and definitely one that will challenge you to the core! Samples of workouts may be a “Named” workout, a 21-15-9, or a compilation of popular movements such as Burpees, Pull-ups, Thrusters, Row/Run, and Tabata. For specific lifting and movement instructions, review techniques are posted at www.crossfit.com.

The proceeds for the challenge will benefit the critical programs offered by the Northwest Burn Foundation.
