Kirkland residents will now have access to Costco’s competitive gas prices as the warehouse club opened its new fueling station on Thursday.

Local city officials, including Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride, and Costco Wholesale executives were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning.

The 10-lane station with 20 fueling positions – Costco’s fourth of that size – opened immediately afterward. The gas station’s official first customer was Councilwoman Penny Sweet, who filled up the tank of her Honda CR-V.

The station features the company’s new Clean Power detergent additive that contains five times the EPA detergent requirement. Clean Power doesn’t just keep engines clean – it also removes any existing deposits.

“We’re excited to offer our members another location for Costco fuel,” said Kirkland warehouse manager Rich Graber. “It’s not only a great product at an incredible price, but we are a convenient stop on their commute, just off I-405.”

Graber also thanked club members for their patience during construction, noting that in addition to the new gas facility, the Kirkland location will boast an expanded parking lot.

Costco gas stations have garnered an excellent reputation for price and superb environmental and safety standards; local members seeking Costco fuel previously had to drive to Woodinville, Lynnwood or Issaquah.

The gas station will be open seven days a week: 6 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 6 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday; and 7 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

As with the warehouse products and services, only members may purchase gasoline; Costco’s gas stations accept American Express, Costco Cash Cards and most PIN debit cards. Members who pay with the TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express receive 3% back on their Costco gas purchases.

Costco’s home office is located in Issaquah. The company is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol COST.
