The Kirkland Fire Department is investigating a kitchen fire that occurred at a single-family residence on Nov. 23.

Ten units from the Kirkland Fire Department responded at 2:48 p.m. to the structure fire in the 13400 block of N.E. 136th Place in the Kingsgate neighborhood.

The Kirkland Police Department also responded, as did two city fire investigators.

Although the fire had developed to the point where it was rolling across the kitchen ceiling, it was quickly extinguished by the initial engine company with a hose line.

There were no injuries to the occupants of the house; however one Kirkland fire fighter suffered a moderate ankle sprain when advancing the hose line through the garage.

It is estimated that structure loss is approximately $10,000 and personal property loss is approximately $15,000.
