Kirkland man hit by BMW driver | Police Blotter Dec. 9-15

Between Dec. 9-15, the Kirkland Police Department reported 361 traffic violations (four DUI), 32 traffic accidents, four noise complaints, 12 thefts, five domestic violence, 33 alarms, three incidents of illegal substances, eight motor vehicle prowls, three car thefts, nine burglaries, 13 disturbances, five cases of fraud, four harassment calls and two malicious mischief calls. At least 40 people were arrested.

Dec. 15

Warrant arrest: 4:41 p.m., 11600 124th Ave. N.E. While on patrol in the AM/PM parking lot an officer recognized a known law enforcement subject walk into the store. When the officer checked the man’s name he found a warrant for Contempt of Court with $1,000 bail. The man was contacted and arrested.

Domestic: 9 p.m., 12000 block of 100th Ave. N.E. An estranged husband dropped off clothing at his wife’s condo. The wife and her male room mate were confronted by the man as he was leaving the parking lot. No assault occurred and the wife was given a domestic violence pamphlet.

Dec. 14

Hit and run: 6:50 p.m., 10500 block of Northup Way. Two brothers were walking west bound on Northup Way when a silver BMW drove past them twice traveling west. Each time the vehicle drove past a passenger threw eggs at the two brothers. The second time the vehicle drove past an egg struck one of the brothers in the thigh and the egg broke on his pants. One of the brothers began chasing the BMW in frustration. The car pulled into a hotel parking lot. As one of the brothers approached the car the driver saw him. The driver began to taunt the male, yelling “what are you going to do about it….” The driver reversed the car out of the parking spot and the male was then standing seven feet from the front of the car. The driver then drove straight at the male, striking the male, throwing him onto the windshield of the vehicle and landing on the ground. The male who was struck by the car was not able to stand initially. The driver did not stop to see if the male was injured and left the scene. Both Bellevue and Kirkland police and aid arrived at the scene and cleared the male medically. The male was later able to identify the driver of the BMW in a lineup. The male assisted in pressing charges against the driver.

Dec. 13

DUI: 1:53 a.m., 9700 N.E. Juanita Drive. A 45-year-old Kirkland man was stopped on a traffic violation after failing to keep within its lane of travel. On contact the man showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly in a field sobriety test. The subject submitted a breath sample of .161 and was taken into custody.

Malicious Mischief: 2:20 a.m., 12800 N.E. 91st Street. A 29-year-old Kirkland man was arrested after a witness identified him as the subject in a malicious mischief incident. The witness was woken up by loud banging coming from her driveway. When she looked out the window she saw the man walking away from her vehicle. The vehicle had damage to the windows where the man had smashed a rock against it multiple times. The windows were not broken. Upon contact the man was extremely intoxicated and arrested.

Dec. 12

Illegal substance: 9:22 p.m., 13000 block of N.E. 70th Place. A 17-year-old male was caught smoking marijuana at Tech City Bowl and arrested. A man was later arrested for supplying the marijuana and alcohol to minors.

Dec. 11

Minor, liquor violation: 10 p.m., 10900 Forbes Creek Drive. A 19-year-old woman was arrested for minor in possession and resisting arrest after she caused a disturbance at a friend’s apartment.

Dec. 10

Theft: 5:33 p.m., 8600 block of 120th Ave. N.E. A 41-year-old Bellevue man as arrested after attempting to shoplift a camera.

Dec. 9

Assault: 8:30 p.m., 10800 block of N.E. 121st Street. A 15-year-old Kirkland male was arrested for assault after he struck his mother with a power cord, causing her to feel pain.

Warrant arrest: 2 a.m., 6700 108th Ave. N.E. An officer responded to a noise complaint. The reporting party said that a red car left the area after dropping off some people. The vehicle was contacted on a traffic stop and the woman driving was found to have a third degree theft warrant out of Tukwila. The woman stated that she had dropped off her friends when they began to argue with their father.
