Four people were arrested August 7 after Sheriff’s detectives and officers served search warrants in a simultaneous raid on massage parlors in King County, including Kirkland.
The four businesses searched were massage parlors that detectives say were actually fronts for prostitution. Detectives believe the four locations have common owners, managers and workers.
Most of the arrests came from two Bellevue massage parlors, Chada Thai Bodyworks at 10448 NE 29th Street and The Royal Spa at 16407 Lake Hills Boulevard. Investigators arrested two women, ages 28 and 36, at the first location and a 33 year-old woman at the second business.
In SeaTac, a 51-year-old woman was arrested at the Miracle Spa massage parlor at 3312 South 192nd Street.
Detectives also raided the Lisa Thai Massage in Kirkland at 1942 Market Street, but no arrests were made.
“We’re looking for the principals,” said King County Sheriff’s spokesman John Urquhart said. “Not the worker bees that were probably there.”
All of the women were booked into the King County Jail on various charges, including Promoting Prostitution and Money Laundering, both felonies. Additional arrests are likely.
No customers were arrested, however detectives seized business records from each location.
Urquhart said that customers who can be identified from the records or credit card receipts may be charged.
Soliciting a prostitute is a misdemeanor and punishable by up to 90 days and $1,000 in fines.
