On March 4, Kirkland assistant city manager James Lopez sent an email message to the community regarding how the city is dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.
“On behalf of the city’s engagement team, I wanted to reach out to you during this time of uncertainty around COVID-19 and let you know that the city is here to support Kirkland’s business community,” he said.
Included in the message was a video from Mayor Penny Sweet.
“We hope this provides answers to any questions you have about what the city is doing in response to COVID-19 in our community,” Lopez wrote.
In the message, he said the city is offering to meet with members of the community “to describe the city’s response to COVID-19, answer any questions and discuss any concerns [they] might have.
Lopez said he is also available by phone at 425-587-3212.
He also provided information about Public Health – Seattle & King County for additional resources (kingcounty.gov/covid).
“On that page you’ll find fact sheets about COVID-19 (including versions in various languages), guides for businesses and organizations from Public Health, Washington State Department of Health, and the CDC and the latest information on the status of COVID-19 in our region,” Lopez wrote.
As “this continues to be a dynamic situation with constant updates,” he directed the community to Public Health — Seattle & King County as the best source for the most up-to-date information.
“Finally, the city wants to know if and how COVID-19 is affecting Kirkland’s business community,” Lopez wrote.
He invited members of Kirkland’s business community to fill out a short online questionnaire (www.research.net/r/covid-kirkland). Lopez asked people to provide their contact information if they would like a response from city staff.
“Thank you for all the amazing work you do for the Kirkland community,” Lopez concluded. “Please know that the city is here to support you, and please don’t hesitate to contact me for any questions or concerns about the health and safety of our community.”
