The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 14 – July 20, there were 223 traffic incidents, 20 traffic accidents, two DUIs, 39 general traffic incidents, one incident involving illegal drugs, 42 alarm calls, 15 abandoned vehicles, 11 burglaries, four incidents of fraud, 24 civil incidents, four cases of harassment, 17 thefts, 14 vehicle prowls, one vehicle theft, 12 warrants served, 32 noise complaints, seven animal calls, 16 incidents of domestic violence, three fireworks complaints, 16 disturbances, one sex offense, 12 hit-and-runs and 31 incidents involving at least one arrest.
July 14
Malicious mischief: 3:23 a.m., 200 block of Lake Street S; A Kirkland man and Redmond man, both 24 years old, were arrested after a witness observed them smashing out windows in downtown Kirkland. The two men smashed windows at The Shop, Foster Foundation and Avara Construction and Supply. The two subjects were contacted and detained as officers located them walking southbound on Lake Street. A police dog assisted in confirming the identities of the suspects, and both offered confessions for the damages.
Liquor violation: 11:11 p.m., 12800 block of NE 85th Street; A 24-year-old Snohomish woman was cited for furnishing liquor to a minor at Pub 85 during a compliance check with the Liquor and Cannabis Control Board.
Liquor violation: 11:25 p.m., 8500 block of 122nd Avenue NE; A 37-year-old Woodinville man was cited for furnishing liquor to a minor at Rose Hill Hangout during a compliance check with the Liquor and Cannabis Control Board.
Liquor violation: 11:55 p.m., 100 block of Kirkland Avenue; A 44-year-old Shoreline man was cited for “minors frequenting off-limits area” during a compliance check of Central Club by the Liquor and Cannabis Control Board. A 28-year-old female was cited for furnishing liquor to a minor during the same compliance check.
July 15
Obstructing: 12:30 a.m., 12100 block of NE 128th Street; Officers recognized a 27-year-old man wanted on a felony DOC warrant during a contact at Evergreen Transit Center. The man fled on foot and was captured by a K9 officer and a police dog, then transported to EvergreenHealth. The man was booked for resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Domestic: 9:30 p.m., 12300 block of NE 130th Lane; A very-intoxicated 40-year-old woman was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree, Domestic Violence, after she assaulted her 42-year-old husband during an argument.
Theft: 10:02 p.m., 12400 block of Totem Lake Boulevard NE; A 29-year-old Carnation man was caught on surveillance attempting to conceal Mikes Hard Lemonade and a bottle of tequila, then exiting the Totem Lake Rite Aid without paying for the merchandise. The man was arrested and charged with Theft in the 3rd Degree and was in possession of drug paraphernalia — a plastic tube used to inhale narcotics.
July 16
Domestic: 5:01 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Avenue NE; A man, whose identity was not disclosed, called 911 to report his roommate, 25, had assaulted him and was having a mental/emotional episode. The roommate was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree, Domestic Violence. Both subjects had minor injuries.
July 17
Malicious mischief: 2:55 a.m., 12600 block of NE 145th Place; A 38-year-old man was arrested after he was contacted while punching and kicking a Ford Escape belonging to a 29-year-old Kirkland man. The man keyed the car across the entire passenger side, but claimed to not remember any of his acts. The man also admitted to being high on opiates.
Domestic: 4:30 a.m., 13200 block of 97th Avenue NE; A 42-year-old man was arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree, Domestic Violence, after he threatened to kill his wife with a machete. The machete was collected as evidence and a witness statement was given by their son. The man was booked into King County Jail.
July 19
MV Prowl: 11:30 a.m., 11400 block of Slater Avenue NE; A 36-year-old man prowled a woman’s vehicle and took cash out of her purse. The woman caught him and the man said he had just “found” her purse and gave it back to her. He then attempted to scam more money from her. The man then proceeded to his therapist appointment, which was in the same suite the woman’s office is in. The man was contacted in the midst of his appointment and, after investigation, he was arrested for MV Prowling and Theft in 3rd Degree.
July 20
Warrant arrest: 12:30 a.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE; A 29-year-old Seattle woman was contacted off Backpage.com and arrested on warrants at the Kirkland Motel 6.
