Between Wednesday, May 21, and Tuesday, May 27, the Kirkland Police Department reported 239 traffic violations, 22 car accidents, 22 alarm calls, 21 assaults (14 domestic violence), 11 thefts, 11 cases of fraud and eight vehicle prowls. At least 42 people were arrested.
Thursday, May 22
4:00 a.m.: A female resident on the 6400 block of 132nd Ave. N.E. alleged her 17-year-old son had punched a hole through her bedroom door and damaged other property. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor vandalism.
1:38 p.m.: After observing several narcotics and alcohol violations, police arrested four juveniles and three adults at Juanita Beach Park. After releasing two of the suspects, five were taken to the station on alcohol violations and were later released to their parents.
Friday, May 23
4:28 p.m.: Police arrested a male juvenile for graffiti vandalism on the 200 block of 3rd Street. He reportedly “tagged” one of the light poles near the bus stop there.
Saturday, May 24
1:21 a.m.: A fight in front of a bar on the 100 block of Kirkland Avenue resulted in a 29-year-old Sultan man sustaining minor injuries. Police determined one of the bouncers struck him, but did not make any arrests.
11:45 p.m.: A resident on the 8200 block of 122nd Ave. N.E. claimed her neighbor was videotaping her while she walked her dog.
Tuesday, May 27
8:42 a.m.: A resident of the first block of Lakeshore Plaza contacted authorities after the top of a nearby tree began to smoke. He said the fire was the result of a crow taking a cigarette butt into the tree.
