The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between Sept. 17-23, the Kirkland Police Department reported 305 traffic violations (seven DUIs), 25 traffic accidents, 11 noise complaints, seven thefts, eight domestic violence calls, 18 alarm calls, eight motor vehicle prowls, two motor vehicle thefts, four burglaries, 13 disturbances, nine cases of fraud, 10 harassment calls and four animal control calls. At least 35 people were arrested.
Sept. 23
Illegal substance: 11:04 a.m., 200 sixth Street. An 18-year-old Kirkland man was contacted in the bushes behind the bus stop and arrested for smoking marijuana. A search revealed the man’s stash of marijuana, hash and paraphernalia.
Sept. 21
Assault: 11:30 p.m., 12400 block of 93rd Ave. N.E. A 41-year-old Kirkland man called police after getting into an altercation with his girlfriend and the mother of his two children. The two adults were arguing over the fact that the man still communicates with an ex-girlfriend and refuses to get married. Prior to police arrival the woman scratched the man on the left side of his stomach when she attempted to stop him from calling 911, tried to get the car keys and her three children to leave. Both were interviewed and the woman was found to be the primary aggressor and was arrested.
Mental: A 60-year-old Kirkland woman was found to be mentally unstable and unable to care for herself. She was transported to Evergreen Hospital for an involuntary committal for an evaluation.
DUI: 3:15 p.m., 11700 98th Ave. N.E. A 39-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested for DUI.
Marijuana: 12:26 p.m., 11600 I-405 N.E. A 21-year-old Kent man was arrested for possession of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.
Sept. 20
Assault: 10:06 p.m., 12200 block of N.E. 124th Street. A 20-year-old Bellevue man was contacted with his pants down in front of the Shell station by Motel 6 after he was reported to have been involved in unruly conduct in one of the rooms. The man was intoxicated despite being under the legal drinking age. He was loud and disorderly while standing in front of the gas station. After threats to attack officers, the man attempted to kick an officer. Once in custody, the man proceeded to spit at the officer and make multiple threats towards both officers. The man was booked for assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and minor in consumption of liquor.
Domestic: 10:35 a.m., 9700 block of N.E. 119th Way. A 29-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for assaulting his wife.
Sept. 19
Minor, liquor violation: 1:07 a.m., 11300 block of 124th Ave. N.E. An 18-year-old female was contacted in the parking lot of the Affinity Condos. She was extremely intoxicated, wearing only one shoe and dressed inappropriately for the weather. She was unable to provide a blood alcohol sample and was transported to the Evergreen ER by Aid. Her blood alcohol was determined to be over .2.
Sept. 18
DUI: 1:19 a.m., 15 Lake Street. A 25-year-old Kirkland man was seen running a red light. On contact the man showed signs of intoxication and was arrested. At the station the man supplied blood alcohol content samples of .168 and .160.
Domestic: 8:29 p.m., 9700 block of N.E. Juanita Drive. A 32-year-old man was arrested for assault of a 23-year-old Snohomish woman.
Minor, liquor violation: 9:52 p.m., 52 Lakeshore Plaza. An 18-year-old Everett woman was cited for intoxication after she was called in as a fall patient at K-Club. The woman was too intoxicated to provide a blood alcohol sample.
Sept. 17
Warrant arrest: 11:24 p.m., Kirkland Ave. and Lake Street. Police spotted a man attempting to urinate in public. The man and his girlfriend were highly intoxicated. The man was arrested on a $100,000 warrant out of Auburn.
Assault: 12 a.m., 15 Lake Street. A 26-year-old Kirkland man caused a disturbance outside the Lake Street Grill and hit a female trying to intervene. The man then shoved another person as a bouncer came out to break up the disturbance. The female refused to assist but the person who was shoved wanted to press charges. A search of the suspect revealed .38 grams of marijuana.
