Kirkland Police Blotter Nov. 19-25

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Nov. 19-25, the Kirkland Police Department reported 285 traffic violations (four DUIs), 12 traffic accidents, 10 noise complaints, 12 thefts, eight domestic violence, 23 alarms, five incidents of illegal substances, three motor vehicle prowls, seven burglaries, six harassment, three cases of fraud and four assaults. At least 26 people were arrested.

Nov. 23

Assault: 1:30 a.m., 100 block of Kirkland Ave. A 23-year-old Bothell man suffered a broken jaw when he was assaulted by several unknown males outside of Tiki Joe’s bar.

Warrant arrest: 12:13 p.m., 12000 block of 113th Ave. N.E. A 27-year-old Gold Bar woman and a 31-year-old Kirkland man were arrested on warrants after being contacted for a disturbance.

DUI: 11:03 p.m., 10800 N.E. 53rd Street. A 54-year-old Seattle man was stopped on a traffic violation. The man showed signs of intoxication and volunteered for a field sobriety test. The man performed poorly and submitted a blood alcohol sample of .163.He was arrested for DUI and possessing 1.92 grams of marijuana.

Nov. 22

Disorderly conduct: 1:15 a.m., 8544 122nd Ave. N.E. Two brothers started an altercation outside Valhalla bar, assaulting a third person, who left the scene just before police arrived. Security pointed out the two brothers and described the events that took place. Both brothers were arrested for disorderly conduct.

Nov. 21

Illegal substance: 1:13 a.m., 11900 Slater Ave. N.E. A 34-year-old Des Moines man was observed behind condo’s in the middle of the night and then ran when contacted by police. When apprehended a K9 backtracked and located a pack of cigarettes with a suspected methamphetamine.

DUI: 2:15 a.m., 14800 Eastbound 520. A male driver was arrested for DUI subsequent to a traffic stop for speeding. It occurred in Redmond during a DUI Task Force event.

Nov. 20

Domestic: 10:30 p.m., 10100 block of N.E. 62nd Street. A 52-year-old Kirkland man got into an argument with his step daughter, who locked herself inside a bathroom and told her stepfather she was going to call 911. The man proceeded to force his way into the bathroom by breaking down the door. The man took the woman’s cell phone and dragged her to the front door by her arms, telling her to leave. The woman called police from a neighbor’s house.

Nov. 19

Malicious mischief: 4 p.m., 12000 N.E. 97th Street. A 55-year-old Kirkland woman reported that an unknown suspect broke the rear window of her PT Cruiser sometime the night before. The suspect may have used a sling shot or BB gun as there appeared to be a total of three objects that struck the rear window and tailgate. No entry was gained to the vehicle and there was no suspect information.

Assault: 8:23 a.m., 10601 N.E. 132nd Street. A 19-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for fourth degree assault after he punched another man in the face over a grudge that has been held for more than nine months.

Illegal substance: 7:06 a.m., 11605 132nd Ave. N.E. One juvenile and one adult male were contacted and arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Assault: 3:10 a.m., 13100 block of 107th Place. A 31-year-old Bellevue man broke the rear side door of his sister’s residence using a hatchet. He then went upstairs and “chopped” his way through a bedroom door and started threatening his sister, her daughter and her boyfriend. The man threatened to ‘kill” all parties inside the residence but did not attempt to hit anyone with the hatchet. When the man learned that the police had been called, he fled the scene. A pursuit into Seattle ensued, ending with the man being apprehended by State Patrol.
