Kirkland police are investigating a scam in which a caller threatens to shut off water due to nonpayment, according to a city news release on Friday afternoon.
The caller claims to be a city employee, but the city doesn’t contact residents by phone when utilities are about to be shut off — instead, a green door-hanger is left notifying the resident of the impending switch.
A Kirkland Police Department release asks residents to call Customer Accounts at 425-587-3150 if they are contacted by a scammer.
