Kirkland Police detectives, North Sound Metro SWAT and Bellevue SWAT teams served several search warrants simultaneously at 6 a.m. this morning at an apartment complex in Bellevue in connection with Eastside identity thefts.
“The Kirkland Police Department would also like to remind citizens to shred personal and financial documents that contain information about your identity and finances once these documents are no longer necessary,” said Det. Mike Murray with the Kirkland Police Department. “We would also like to thank Bellevue PD Command and SWAT Team and the North Sound Metro SWAT Team for their assistance and professionalism today.”
Several subjects were detained while the apartments were searched and secured by the SWAT teams. Three suspects were arrested pursuant to the warrants and transported to the city of Kirkland Justice Center Jail.
The search warrants stemmed from numerous commercial burglaries of storage facilities in Kirkland. Personal and financial information was included in the items that were taken from these storage units.
The suspects were then able to use the stolen information to create stolen identities and illegal credit cards. These suspects have made numerous purchases with this stolen information in cities on the Eastside. Kirkland Police detectives are still gathering evidence.
The North Sound Metro SWAT Team includes Kirkland, Bothell, Monroe, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Mill Creek and Lake Forest Park Police Departments.
No citizens, officers, pets or suspects were injured during this incident.
