Kirkland resident Jennifer Mahan and student in the American Public University System has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from First Tech Federal Credit Union.

Mahan is working toward a degree in Emergency and Disaster Management and serves as one of the leaders for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) at the Kirkland Office of Emergency Management.

She helps with Emergency Preparedness at Lake Washington School District.
