Sleep Country, with a donation and store location in Kirkland, collected a record-breaking number of shoes for foster kids during its annual donation drive. The 10,203 pairs is a 27 percent increase from the 2014 drive. In the Seattle metro area alone, 6,692 donations were made.
The drive wrapped up on June 7 and all donations will be distributed among Sleep Country’s nonprofit partner foster organizations in the Northwest. For those who missed the shoe drive and would like to give back now, Sleep Country is hosting its annual Clothing Drive for Foster Kids, collecting new clothing items for all ages and sizes, such as jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and packaged undergarments.
Donations can be made the Totem Lake Sleep Country, located at 12558 Totem Lake Blvd in Kirkland.
