Students from Kirkland’s Juanita and Lake Washington high schools recently received nominations in this year’s 5th Avenue Awards.
The 5th Avenue Awards is an annual awards ceremony presented by the 5th Avenue Theatre to recognize outstanding achievement in musical theatre from high schools all over Washington state.
This year, evaluators saw 105 productions in schools as far north as Lynden, south as Vancouver, east as Spokane and west as Sequim.
Juanita High School students who were recognized include Rachael Sise, special honors for student achievement; Baily Tax, outstanding performance by an actress in a featured ensemble role for her role as Mrs. Harcourt in Anything Goes; and the school’s orchestra received an outstanding orchestra nomination for its performance in Anything Goes.
Lake Washington High School students who were recognized include Savannah Brady for outstanding performance by an actress in a supporting role for her role as Cinderella in Into the Woods; Aubrey Dangel for outstanding performance by an actress in a leading role (honorable mention) for her role as the witch in Into the Woods; and Kristy Gutierrez for outstanding performance by an actor or actress in a non-singing role (honorable mention) for her role as Milky White in Into the Woods.
