The WMEA/WIAA State Solo and Ensemble Contest was held at Central Washington University in Ellensburg April 25-26. Three students from Kirkland won their categories while many others achieved Superior ratings.
The Kirkland winners are seniors Erik Binkhuysen, EHS, first place viola solo; senior Stella Perlic, JHS, first place timpani solo and senior Anders Jorstad, LWHS, second place bass – vocal solo.
Solos – superior ratings: junior Logan Esterling, LWHS, oboe-English horn; junior Alexander Gilbert, LWHS, Clarinet; sophomore Caeli MacLennan, STEM, French horn; senior Keegan Taggart, JHS, trombone; senior Stella Perlic, JHS, mallets; junior Chris Potter, JHS, string bass; and junior Tyra Overby, JHS, soprano.
