AP Government students at Lake Washington High School wanted to find a bill to support for Capitol Classroom, a partnership with TVW News at the state Legislature. But nothing seemed quite right. So lobbyist Michael Moran, who Skyped with students as part of the program, suggested they brainstorm and write their own.

Rep. Luis Moscoso, who represents north Kirkland, sponsored the resulting legislation. Senior Arman Talkar said it felt great to testify on Feb. 18 with 40 of his classmates looking on.

“You see you can solve problems,” he said.
