The Kirkland Youth Council granted funds to the library of Finn Hill Middle School for purchasing supplies for Maker Space. Maker Space is an opportunity for kids to learn and create at the same time.
Students started the year working with duct tape and are currently doing yarn crafts with wool supplied by Serial Knitters of Kirkland. Forty students are knitting and crocheting. The library has opened up to Maker Space during lunch time. Supplies are made available for students to create and have fun.
Peter Strong, Finn Hill’s librarian is thrilled with the community support.
“The KYC funding has allowed us to reach more students than we imagined,” Strong said. “Our next Maker Space will be with small electronics. I can’t wait to see what the kids learn and build.”
