Kirkland’s quickly-expanding BitTitan announced last week that it was moving operations to Bellevue by spring 2017.
BitTitan, a company which helps IT departments transition to the cloud, was founded in Chief Executive Officer Geeman Yip’s Kirkland garage in 2007. It moved to a location in south Kirkland in January 2015 and quickly filled out that space.
BitTitan will occupy two floors of the One Twelfth at Twelfth building in Bellevue, at more than 62,000 square feet of office space. It specializes in helping companies move their data and programs to the cloud.
Rocco Seyboth, vice president of product and marketing, said the move to Bellevue was bound to happen.
“This search has been happening for a long time, basically since we moved in in Kirkland,” he said. “Within months, we were bursting at the seams. Our office is crammed with desks, some people work in the hallway.”
Started as a one-man operation just a decade ago, BitTitan now employs 225 people and Seyboth said that in the next two years, that number could close to double. Dozens of job listings are on BitTitan’s website as of this writing.
Despite the urgent need, Seyboth said that Yip had something special planned for the Bellevue space.
“Why is it going to take us so long to build out the space? What does our CEO Geeman have up his sleeve?” he said. “He’s been working with the architects, JPC, and they’ve worked with several other notable startups in Seattle. Geeman hopes to blow those other projects out of the water.”
The project will take six or seven months, but will maintain BitTitan’s mentality of “getting sh*t done and having fun while doing it!” At least, according to the website.
The move to Bellevue, while primarily a space issue, is also important to the company for another reason.
“We love Kirkland and we love Bellevue,” Seyboth said. “About half our employees live on the Eastside, and the other half live in Seattle. Bellevue is just a central location. Cross the bridge and you’re there, come down 405 and you’re there. It’s the perfect location.”
