Kirkland’s second ballot box to open at Kingsgate Library on Oct. 20

The City of Kirkland is placing a new ballot box at the Kingsgate Library on Oct. 20.

The ballot box will be the second box in Kirkland, and will make voting easier for Kingsgate residents in the upcoming election. The first ballot box was placed at Kirkland City Hall on July 15.

The boxes are part of a county-wide effort to improve access to ballot boxes. Last election, there were only 10 ballot boxes in the county, in contrast with 43 locations this fall. Of the 33 new locations, 24 boxes are at public libraries.

All ballot boxes in King County will open to the public on Oct. 20, and remain open until Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.

Kirkland Deputy Mayor Jay Arnold, King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci and King County Elections Director Julie Wise will attend a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 21 at noon.

No stamp is required for ballots dropped off in an official King County ballot box. For a list of all King County drop boxes, visit the King County Elections website.
