KPD launches investigation following an armed robbery

KPD encourages neighbors to review their surveillance systems for possible suspect information.

The Kirkland Police Department has launched an investigation after a burglary suspect fired shots while fleeing the victim’s residence. On October 9 at about 3:50 a.m. a suspect entered a Kirkland residence, located in the 10600 Block of Northeast 45th Street, through an unlocked rear sliding door.

The residence was occupied by two adults and their two young children. According to KPD, the intruder rummaged through the house while staging items to steal and entered an upstairs bedroom with a flashlight, approaching the mother who was still in bed.

The mother called out to her husband who was sleeping in a separate room and the suspect fled the residence. While fleeing, the suspect allegedly fired three rounds back into the home, which didn’t strike the victims, according to KPD.

KPD is working to identify the suspect(s) and determine what was stolen from the residence. One suspect is described as a male between 5’6 and 6’0 tall, who may have fled in a light colored vehicle.

The department is encouraging neighbors to review their surveillance systems between 2-4 a.m. on October 9 for possible suspect and vehicle information.
