The Lake Washington High School softball team survived itself on Thursday during the 3A District tournament semifinal game. The Kangs committed an uncharacteristic four errors and trailed 2-0 during the fourth inning but rallied to defeat West Seattle, 3-2, at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle.
The win also clinches the Kangs a state tournament berth next week in Lacey.
Hannah Walker hammered a home run during the fourth and Maddie Brown collected the game-tying RBI during the sixth inning. Hannah Steele had the biggest hit, a game-winning, two-strike, two-out RBI single during the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Kangs will play Bainbridge Island for the 3A Sea-King District title at 7 p.m. today at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle.
