Life Care Center of Kirkland, a nursing and rehab center, recently received the 2015 Silver Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.

Life Care Center of Kirkland was one of only 125 organizations nationwide and six in Washington to receive this level of recognition this year.

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.

The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Facilities begin at the Bronze level and must earn an award at each level before applying for the next. They must fill out a detailed application for each tier.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said Nancy Butner, executive director at Life Care Center of Kirkland. “I first learned about the Malcom Baldridge criteria when I was in school for my MBA, and since then it has been my goal to achieve this award. We should always push ourselves to take our service to the next level. I am driven by developing a program above the expectations of our patients. The team of staff that makes this happen works hard every day and shares in my vision.”

The Award will be presented formally during AHCA/NCAL’s 66th Annual Convention and Exposition, Oct. 4–7, in San Antonio, Texas.

“Achievement of the Silver National Quality Award is a prestigious accomplishment recognized throughout the health care community, and we are very proud of the associates at Life Care Center of Kirkland for their hard work to reach this goal,” said Life Care President Beecher Hunter. “The award is also symbolic of a highly functioning team because it takes the commitment of every associate to win it.”

Located at 10101 NE 120th St., Life Care Center of Kirkland is one of 16 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Washington managed or operated by Life Care Centers of America.
