The Lake Washington High School’s Dance Team tied for second place at the Universal Dance Association (UDA) summer camp July 27, held at the University of Puget Sound.
Of 14 teams in attendance, the LWDT also was voted an award for leadership — the second year running – given to the team receiving the most respect and admiration from the other teams. The team went on to win several other honors, including the Most Valuable Coach Award to LWHS’s coach Lindsey Beck.
Four girls on the team, Brieccia Lewis, Cydney Jones, Hannah Ravani, and Tania Santiago made All-Stars by performing an additional routine in which they choreographed a section on their own. This routine was performed in pairs for the UDA staff. The selection to the All-Stars earned the quartet an invitation to participate in the UDA’s performance abroad at the New Year’s Parade in Paris this winter.
