The Lake Washington School District is wrapping up this summer after hosting the Washington Network for Innovative Careers (WANIC), which is open to students from seven school districts on the Eastside for the summer.
The WANIC Summer Skills Academy offers students a hands-on chance to test out a career field, before they invest time and money in training and further education. Students receive a half credit (one semester) toward high school graduation.
Classes cover fields including computer science and engineering, culinary arts, health careers, art and animation, robotics, game programming, and more.
While classes for this summer are almost done, high school students can get more information on WANIC’s regular school year courses or plan ahead for the Skills Academy next summer.
