LWSD students above national, state average for 2016 SAT scores

Students in Lake Washington School District scored better than state and national averages on the SAT, according to a recent district release.

Students in Lake Washington School District scored better than state and national averages on the SAT, according to a recent district release.

“I am proud of Lake Washington students,” noted Dr. Traci Pierce, superintendent in the release. “Our students score well above state and national averages. These results show that our students and teachers are working hard every day.”

The district encompasses the cities Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish, and includes four major high schools.

Students, on average, scored 76 points higher on reading, math and writing tests in comparison to state and national averages last year.

A new SAT was given in January 2016, making comparisons to previous years difficult.

A total of 1,103 students took the SAT this year. This number is down from a district high of 1,135 last year.
