Ten Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) students were recently honored by the Washington State Hot Rod Hall of Fame (WSHRHF), at their annual awards banquet dinner, each receiving a scholarship for $2,000.
The WSHRHF awards scholarships to automotive students that exhibit strong talent and motivation, but are in need of financial assistance to achieve their goals. Since the inception of the scholarship, the number of scholarships offered each year has grown from two in 2011 to ten in 2017. In that time, WSHRHF has contributed over $96,000 dollars in scholarship funds to LWTech students in the School of Transportation Technology.
To be eligible for the WSHRHF scholarships, students must be enrolled at LWTech in any automotive, motorcycle, marine, diesel and heavy equipment, or power equipment program and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Additionally, candidates must receive a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and submit an essay about how they came to be at LWTech.

“The cooperation between the Washington State Hot Rod Hall of Fame and LWTech is phenomenal. The students’ integrity, dedication and work ethic is what impressed me and motivated me to have this scholarship program available exclusively to LWTech. A lot of these students have exhausted their financial possibilities and so we are helping students to continue their education and pursue their dreams,” said WSHRHF Scholarship Director, Shag Clark. “The staff is phenomenal, from the president on down to the students – I’ve never met a group of people so dedicated to what they do,” he added.
