Oil Can Henry’s recently awarded Amanda Ly a $1,000 scholarship through its first scholarship program. Ly, a 2010 graduate of Juanita High School, plans to study molecular biology at University of California Berkeley next year. More than 1,000 applicants from graduating high school seniors in the communities Oil Can Henry’s serves submitted an essay on “What trust means to me.” Scholarship winners were selected on the basis of academic record, leadership, participation in school and community activities and work experience in addition to their essay submission.
