The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Nov. 13-20, there were 278 traffic incidents, 43 traffic accidents, three DUIs, 31 general traffic incidents, 66 alarm calls, nine abandoned vehicles, nine burglaries, eight incidents of fraud, five civil incidents, six cases of harassment, 26 thefts, seven vehicle prowls, one vehicle thefts, nine warrants served, 23 noise complaints, five animal calls, six incidents of domestic violence, five incidents of malicious mischief, 11 disturbances, five trespasses, one sex offense, four assaults, eight hit and run and 24 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Nov. 16
Theft: 4:20 p.m., 8600 block of 120th Ave. NE. An underage juvenile was stopped by loss prevention at a store for shoplifting sweaters while in the company of a 29-year-old who was unaware of their thefts. The juvenile was interviewed and then released after signing a trespass letter. Charges have been filed through investigation.
Theft: 1 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Pl NE. A 29-year-old woman was arrested for stealing at her workplace, including a package of sticky notes, ball point pens, and a FM transmitter.
Harassment: 6:45 a.m., 200 block of Market Street. A 23-year-old man was arrested after he became enraged at another drive traveling west-bound on Central Way. The suspect displayed a military-style knife out the window and threatened the other driver with it. He was later contacted by police at a parking lot on Market Street. He was arrested for harassment and the unlawful display of a weapon.
Theft: 12:49 p.m., 9800 block of NE 132nd St. A 26-year-old man was arrested for theft after he was caught by loss prevention at Goodwill stealing a sweater. He was booked and released from the Kirkland Jail.
DUI: 1:40 a.m., 11600 block of 110th Ave NE. A 29-year-old man was arrested for DUI and obstruction when he was observed leaving the Juanita Pub in a vehicle involved in a disturbance. When he saw police follow him he jumped a curb and then fled into the woods. A K-9 unit located him hiding in the bushes.
Nov. 15
Assault: 9:31 p.m., 14800 block of 117th Pl NE. A 21-year-old man came home drunk and got into a fight with his mother and other undisclosed persons. He was arrested a few blocks away for two counts of assault.
Assault: 8:15 p.m., 1900 block of 3rd St. A 50-year-old man got into a fight with his 48-year-old girlfriend. After the argument, she tried to leave in his vehicle and he pulled her out of it and took the keys. He then took er phone when she said she was going to call 9-11. Another fight ensued at which point his 13-year-old son called 9-11. He was arrested for assault and interfering with reporting domestic violence. Neither subject wanted to cooperate further beyond verbal statements. Both of them had been drinking at the time of the incident.
Nov. 14
Assault: 5:10 p.m., 200 block of 3rd St. A 22-year-old man called police to report being assault by another 22-year-old man while at the transit center. The victim was bruised and possibly sustained a broken nose. The suspect was located in Park Place Center and arrested for assault. While at KPD jail, the suspect assaulted an inmate in his
cell and then a commanding officer. He was charged with an additional assault charge for both.
