The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Aug. 23-29, the Kirkland Police Department reported 347 traffic violations (12 DUIs), 10 animal calls, 34 alarm calls, 35 noise complaints, three juvenile crimes, 10 calls of disturbance, 11 thefts, 15 car prowls, eight car thefts, 28 traffic accidents, 27 calls of civil disturbance, six reported burglaries, 12 domestic violence calls, 14 calls for harassment, three reports of illegal drugs, two alleged assaults, three acts of fraud, 13 malicious mischief reports, one rape and three suicides. At least 26 people were arrested.
Aug. 29
Warrant: 9:04 p.m., 200 block of Parkplace Center. A 21-year-old Redmond man was arrested on a felony warrant for burglary and narcotics violations after police found him passed out in front of Starbucks holding a melted quart of chocolate chunk ice cream and two gallons of milk. Police also found a small amount of heroin that the man claims race car driver Caleb Armstrong allegedly “gave him as a good gesture.” A baggie of presumed black heroin, two folding knives, a scale, a silver spoon and a glass pipe were taken as evidence.
Aug. 27
Warrant: 7:16 p.m., 10800 block of NE 145th St. A 27-year-old man was arrested for operating a vehicle in a 7-11 parking lot with a no-bail DUI Everett warrant, driving with a suspended license and driving without an ignition interlock.
Disorderly conduct: 12 a.m., 12400 block of Totem Lake Boulevard NE. A 24-year-old man was arrested after King County deputies caught him walking down the street, impeding traffic and the construction zone.
Aug. 26
Warrant: 6:54 a.m., 900 block of Kirkland Ave. A 23-year-old man was taken into custody as he was stepping out of the car to go to work. Police arrested him on a Fife warrant for driving while his license was suspended.
Aug. 24
Warrant: 11:50 a.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. NE. A 24-year-old woman was taken into custody on her theft warrants from Tukwila and Bothell after she was observed shooting heroin, the police report states.
Aug. 23
Theft: 1:36 p.m., 9800 block of NE 132nd St. A 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested for stealing a fifth of gin and vodka from Rite Aid. The three attempted to get away in the 18-year-old’s vehicle but were arrested shortly after.
Theft: 8:40 p.m., 200 block of Parkplace Center. A 45-year-old man was taken into custody for stealing eight bottles of liquor from QFC.
Aug. 22
Warrant: 11:45 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE. A 22-year-old man was arrested for causing a disturbance at Motel 6. The suspect also had an Oregon warrant for identity theft and two misdemeanor warrants: one from Bellevue for criminal conspiracy and one from Bothell for minor in possession.
