The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers.The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 25 to Aug. 1, the Kirkland Police Department reported 598 traffic violations (13 DUIs), 26 traffic accidents, nine animal calls, 61 alarm calls, 43 noise complaints, 10 calls of disturbance, 18 thefts, 11 car prowls, one car theft, 28 calls of civil disturbance, nine reported burglaries, 15 domestic violence calls, 10 calls for harassment, three reports of illegal drugs, five alleged assaults, 11 acts of fraud, six malicious mischief reports, one sex offense and seven calls for vice. At least 49 people were arrested.
Aug. 1
Sex offense: 5:15 p.m., 12200 block of NE 66th St. A man told police his 13-year-old daughter was approached on a chatline by an “unsavory character” who solicited sexual behavior. The girl’s mother had checked her daughter’s cell phone and discovered an adult man had been propositioning their daughter for sexual pictures. The case is under investigation.
July 31
Warrant: 4:11 p.m., 10600 block of NE 68th St. A 21-year-old woman was arrested on a felony drug warrant after she was found at Metropolitan Market during a theft call. The woman was with a man who allegedly took food from the deli.
Domestic violence: 11 p.m., 11100 block of NE 123rd Lane. A 19-year-old woman was taken into custody after her mother told police she had been in a fight with her 21-year-old boyfriend. The woman admitted to punching her boyfriend after an argument that involved a food fight.
July 29
Reckless endangerment: 7:15 a.m., 12700 block of NE 120th St. A 36-year-old man was arrested for firing a round of ammunition from his apartment into his neighbor’s kitchen cabinet. No one was injured and the man said he thought the handgun was unloaded as he went to clean it. Three guns, three handgun magazines and one empty rifle magazine were taken for safe keeping and evidence.
July 28
Minor in possession: 10:58 p.m., 12500 block of 116th Ave. NE. A 15-year-old boy was arrested after police found him drunkenly yelling and cussing at officers and McDonalds’ employees. The boy also said he wanted to kill himself and was involuntarily taken to EvergreenHealth Medical Center.
July 26
Domestic violence: 12:35 a.m., 13140 block of 113th Place NE. A 37-year-old man was arrested for malicious mischief in the third degree after causing damage to a wooden door.
Prostitution: 11:29 p.m., 11400 block of NE 116th St. A 28-year-old man was arrested after entering a known prostitute’s Baymont Inn hotel room for 17 minutes and then leaving. Police stopped the man and he admitted to paying $100 for oral sex. The prostitute later stated she had intercourse with the man.
Prostitution: 11:50 p.m., 12000 block of NE 116th St. A 27-year-old man was arrested after leaving a known prostitute’s motel room. The man admitted that he had a sexual act performed on him for a fee.
