The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers.The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 19-24, the Kirkland Police Department reported 449 traffic violations (13 DUIs), 21 traffic accidents, five animal calls, 34 alarm calls, 30 noise complaints, 17 calls of disturbance, 16 thefts, 10 car prowls, four car thefts, 10 calls of civil disturbance, seven reported burglaries, 11 domestic violence calls, seven calls for harassment, three reports of illegal drugs, one alleged assault, seven acts of fraud, five malicious mischief reports, six juvenile crimes, one sex offense, two rapes, one robbery and four suicides. At least 29 people were arrested.
July 24
Lewd act: 7:07 p.m., 9700 block of NE Juanita Drive. A 32-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly masturbating in his car parked in front of multiple children at Juanita Beach Park. Police report the man was taken to immigration services as well.
July 23
Domestic violence: 7:50 a.m., 12600 block of NE 119th St. A 28-year-old man was arrested for getting into a physical fight with his 28-year-old girlfriend.
Order violation: 9:55 p.m., 10500 block of NE 141st St. A 48-year-old man was cited for violating a temporary order of protection for domestic violence against his 32-year-old ex-wife or ex-girlfriend.
July 22
Warrant: 11:23 p.m., 10100 block of NE 124th St. A 23-year-old man was contacted during a traffic stop and then arrested for his outstanding prostitution warrant from the Seatac Police Department.
July 21
Warrant: 12:47 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE. A 25-year-old man was taken into custody on a Seattle Police Department assault warrant. Police found him at Motel 6 in the parking lot.
Sex offense: 8:18 p.m., 500 block of Lake St. S. Police were called to David Brink Park after a caller said a 49-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were fornicating under a blanket for at least 30 minutes. Upon contact, the couple told police they were just kissing and left the park voluntarily.
July 20
Warrant: 9:09 p.m., 14800 block of 116th Place NE. A 31-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. He was also cited for driving while his license was suspended and not having an interlock device in his vehicle.
