The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between June 26-July 2, there were 288 traffic incidents, 29 traffic accidents, four DUIs, 30 general traffic incidents, 62 alarm calls, 18 abandoned vehicles, six burglaries, six incidents of fraud, 16 civil incidents, four cases of harassment, 11 thefts, three vehicle prowls, two vehicle thefts, three warrants served, 24 noise complaints, 13 animal calls, 15 incidents of domestic violence, three incidents of malicious mischief, 14 disturbances, two trespasses, two assaults, five hit and runs, four fireworks complaints, and 26 incidents involving at least one arrest.
June 14
Malicious Mischief: 11 p.m., 200 block of 3rd St. A 56-year-old man had his lawn damaged overnight when someone spread out lines of a grass-killing white crystal substance. He also had his lawn hose cut up. Police suspect it may be a neighbor who is upset over the property being zoned for development.
June 26
Theft: 9 p.m., 14400 block of 124th Ave NE. A 23-year-old man was caught stealing liquor at Safeway. He was transported to the Kirkland Jail, where he was cited and released.
June 26
Assault: 1:45 a.m., 11600 block of 91st Ln NE. A 30-year-old man beat up his 29-year-old live-in girlfriend and was arrested for domestic violence.
June 28
Assault: 3:55 a.m., 13200 block of 121st Ave NE. A 30-year-old man was arrested after getting into a physical fight with an undisclosed person whom he was dating.
June 29
Theft: 9:20 p.m., 200 block of Parkplace Ctr. A 39-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting.
July 1
Indecent Exposure: 8 p.m., 200 block of 3rd St. A 49-year-old man was arrested for indecent exposure after urinating on a tree at Peter Kirk Park in front of children and their families. He was also charged with possessing liquor in a park and was booked on his outstanding warrant for domestic violence and for consuming alcohol in violation of his probation. His blood alcohol level was found to be at .26.
