The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Sept. 9 to Sept. 15, the Kirkland Police Department reported 439 traffic violations (seven DUIs, 11 hit and runs, 14 school zone citations), 26 alarm calls, 20 car accidents, 28 noise complaints, 25 thefts, six burglaries, 19 car prowls, 11 domestic violence calls, 12 calls for harassment, seven acts of fraud, 17 calls of a disturbance and seven animal-related calls. At least 35 people were arrested.
Sept. 15
Weapons: 4:16 p.m., 11400 block of N.E. 132nd St. An 18-year-old chased his high school friends into a parking lot while he was shooting a BB gun. The group was advised of the seriousness of their actions. There were no damages.
DUI: 10:46 p.m., 400 block of Central Way. Police stopped a driver for an equipment violation. The 26-year-old Edmonds man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he blew a .110 and a .101.
Sept. 14
Assault, malicious mischief: 9:26 p.m., 13400 block of N.E. 132nd St. A 39-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief after she was involved in a physical domestic violence incident with her boyfriend. The woman physically kicked her boyfriend out of bed and then walked into the kitchen and broke nearly everything in her path, from dishes, to the water cooler and some furniture.
Burglary: 3 p.m., 6500 block of 130th Ave. N.E. An unknown suspect forced entry into a residence and stole various items, including $500 cash, a computer, diamond jewelry, a Play Station, an Xbox and other electronics.
Traffic offense: 3:30 p.m., 12400 block of N.E. 124th St. A 49-year-old Bothell man was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
Sept. 13
Domestic violence: 1 p.m., 13600 block of 133rd Ave. N.E. Police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance and found that an 18-year-old Kirkland woman had assaulted a man by punching him in the face. She was arrested and booked for fourth-degree assault.
Sept. 11
Theft: 9 a.m., 12100 block of N.E. 124th St. A 24-year-old Kirkland man was caught on video surveillance stealing tip money off of tables at Denny’s restaurant. The man confessed to the theft and was arrested for third-degree theft.
Sept. 10
Domestic violence: 11 p.m., 11200 block of N.E. 124th St. A 53-year-old Bothell man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after pushing his wife.
Minor, liquor violation: 10 p.m., Sixth St. A 17-year-old Kirkland girl and runaway juvenile was returned home intoxicated. She was booked and charged through King County Jail.
Warrant arrest: 9:45 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Ave. N.E. Police found a 27-year-old Kent man sleeping in a vehicle behind Tire for Less and subsequently returned him with a no bail warrant out of Kent for assault.
Sept. 9
Assault: 1:34 a.m., 12500 block of N.E. 144th St. Police responded to a report of a fight in progress at the Caribbean Casino. After reviewing video surveillance and speaking with witnesses, police found that a 22-year-old Kirkland man had punched a man in the face and was the primary aggressor. The Kirkland man was arrested and booked for assault.
Minor, liquor violation: 9:59 p.m., 14300 block of 123rd Ave. N.E. A 15-year-old Kirkland girl was arrested for obstruction and minor in possession.
Disorderly conduct: 11:55 a.m., 10600 block of N.E. 38th Place. A woman reported that her co-workers were physically fighting each other. The two Seattle men admitted to fighting and declined aid for minor injuries. They were arrested for disorderly conduct.
