The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Jan. 3-9, the Kirkland Police Department reported 479 traffic violations, four DUIs, 28 school zone traffic violations, one animal call, 26 alarm calls, nine noise complaints, two juvenile crimes, seven calls of disturbance, 18 thefts, 25 car prowls, nine car thefts, 30 traffic accidents, 18 calls of civil disturbance, 12 reported burglaries, 11 domestic violence calls, seven calls for harassment, three reports of illegal drugs, 10 acts of fraud, eight malicious mischief reports and four suicides. At least 40 people were arrested.
Jan. 6
Domestic violence: 8 p.m., 14200 block of 110th Ave. NE. A 39-year-old woman was taken into custody for a misdemeanor warrant after police contacted her during a domestic disturbance.
Traffic offense: 1:56 a.m., Northeast 60th Street and 115th Place Northeast. A 47-year-old woman was arrested for driving while her license is suspended and refusing to comply with police. Officers received reports of a suspicious vehicle stopped at a foot bridge. Upon contact, the woman refused to come out of the camper and was deemed a violent offender after police ran her license.
Trespass: 4:27 p.m., 13100 block of 121st Way NE. A 36-year-old Spokane man was arrested for trespassing.
Jan. 5
Theft: 6:45 p.m., 10611 block of Ne 68th St. A 25-year-old man was cited for stealing $400 worth of liquor and assorted groceries at Metropolitan Market. He walked out of the store with a basket full of the goods before he was stopped by an employee who took back the basket.
Jan. 4
Liquor violation: 1:54 a.m., 13900 block of 127th Place NE. A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were arrested for furnishing and possessing liquor at a large house party. A silver Saturn was also impounded for blocking the driveway.
Warrant: 8:25 a.m., 11100 block of NE 125h Lane E. A 22-year-old man was arrested on a car theft warrant after police found him dumpster diving and urinating in the dumpster at an apartment complex. The man told police he was living at a friend’s house because his RV he had been living out of was towed earlier that week. He also told police he was having mood swings and has a history of meth use.
Theft: 4:15 p.m., 11224 block of NE 124th St. A 17-year-old was arrested for stealing a pack of Gummi Worms, a Charleston Chew and a DOTS candy from the Totem Lake QFC. He was detained by store management and was trespassed from the store for one year.
