The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 18-24 there were 411 traffic incidents, 19 traffic accidents, eight DUIs, 31 general traffic incidents, 30 alarm calls, 14 abandoned vehicles, four burglaries, 15 incidents of fraud, 17 civil incidents, six cases of harassment, 29 thefts, 22 vehicle prowls, two vehicle thefts, six warrants served, 22 noise complaints, four court order violations, three animal calls, nine incidents of domestic violence, six incidents of malicious mischief, one sex offense, two assaults, two reported rapes, and 28 incidents involving one or more arrests.
July 20
Malicious mischief: 1 p.m., 13900 block of 87th Ave NE. A 17-year-old man was arrested after he punched his father’s vehicle on the hood and caused damage to it because he was angry. He was transported to the King County Youth Center.
Theft: 1 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave NE. A 30-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting in Fred Meyer.
Assault: 10 p.m., 600 block of 12th Ave. A 21-year-old man was arrested after he and his 19-year-old girlfriend got into a physical fight over a text message. The man pushed her on the bed and choked her. He was taken into custody and transported to jail where he was booked.
July 19
Assault: 3:30 p.m., 10200 block of NE 132nd St. A 25-year-old woman was injured after being shoved by a 29-year-old man. Both suffer from mental health issues and have court orders to stay at Fairfax, a mental health hospital in Kirkland.
Trespass: 9 p.m., 25 block of Lakeshore Plaza. A 21-year-old woman was arrested for trespassing on the boat show yachts at Marina Park after the boat show was closed for the day.
July 18
Warrant: 12:15 a.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE. A 38-year-old man was arrested at a Motel 6 after officers discovered he had a felony warrant from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Reckless driving: 1 a.m., 10800 120th Ave NE. A 19-year-old man was arrested after police responded to reports of a red sedan doing burnouts in a parking lot. Officers found a car sliding sideways through the parking lot. The driver was stopped and admitted he had been doing burnouts with his friends. He was cited for reckless driving.
Warrant: 10:40 p.m., 11600 block of 124th Ave NE. A 19-year-old man was arrested after officers discovered he had a King County warrant out for minor in possession. He was placed under arrest along with his companion, whom officers found had a warrant for driving with a suspended license out of Olympia.
