The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Oct. 11-17, the Kirkland Police Department reported 455 traffic violations, five DUIs, 28 school zone traffic violations, one animal call, 24 alarm calls, 14 noise complaints, two juvenile crimes, 14 calls of disturbance, 10 thefts, 23 car prowls, three car thefts, 19 traffic accidents, 18 calls of civil disturbance, three reported burglaries, 14 domestic violence calls, six calls for harassment, two reports of illegal drugs, four alleged assaults, eight acts of fraud, five malicious mischief reports, three sex offenses, four suicides, two robberies and one call for prostitution. At least 34 people were arrested.
Oct. 17
Domestic violence: 11:10 p.m., 12600 block of NE 144th St. A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing his 20-year-old girlfriend to the ground.
Domestic violence: 4:32 a.m., 14100 block of 123rd Ave. NE. A 22-year-old woman was cited for assaulting her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend after they ended their relationship. She fled the scene and police were unable to arrest her at that time.
Oct. 16
Assault: 11 p.m., 13300 block of 100th Ave. NE. A 40-year-old man was taken into custody after he threw a hotdog at a 7-Eleven clerk. The customer was upset about how the hotdog was prepared.
Oct. 14
Theft: 3:26 p.m., 500 block of Central Way. A 46-year-old man reported his ex-roommate, a 33-year-old woman, stole his checkbook and passed a bad check at a pharmacy in Kirkland after she left. The woman admitted to her crime and the man will be charged through investigation.
Domestic violence: 9 p.m., 6700 block of Lake Washington Boulevard NE. A 35-year-old woman was arrested on two counts of domestic violence malicious mischief. A door frame and a Volkswagen Jetta were damaged during the incident.
Liquor violation: 10:50 p.m., 12000 block of Slater Ave. NE. A 19-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors during a party at their apartment. The woman suspect had to be taken to EvergreenHealth Medical Center for detox. At the party, police discovered a 17-year-old Renton runaway and he was returned to his parents. Four other juveniles were placed with their parents or other adults.
Oct. 13
Domestic violence: 3:55 a.m., 12200 block of NE 130th Way. A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she assaulted her 33-year-old husband during an argument about having children.
Domestic violence: 1:30 p.m., 13400 block of NE 133rd St. A 29-year-old man was arrested for threatening to shoot and kill his 35-year-old wife. The suspect is a known gang member, according to the police report, and is known to carry knives, a machete and has access to guns. Six children ranging from 2 to 13 in age were involved in the case.
Oct. 12
Prostitution: 11 a.m., 12000 block of 120th Place NE. A 24-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were arrested for prostituting at Motel 6. A total of $320 was collected as evidence.
Informational report: 7 p.m., 100 block of Fifth Ave. A 38-year-old woman called police to report the name of a man who is allegedly actively involved in pimping girls out of the Baymont Inn. She said the girls are using T&A Review Board and Backpage.com to promote themselves.
Assault: Noon, 9300 block of NE 135th St. A 14-year-old boy was arrested for committing assault with sexual motivation. The victim is a 45-year-old woman.
Oct. 11
Domestic violence: 11:10 a.m., 12600 block of NE 104th St. A 40-year-old woman was arrested after she hit her 41-year-old boyfriend in the face during an argument. Her boyfriend, who shares a child with her, was holding their child when she hit him.
Domestic violence: 7 p.m., 12800 block of 125th Lane NE. A 39-year-old woman was arrested for hitting her roommate on the head and neck, and throwing a glass ashtray at her. The two got into a fight about how the roommate was cooking dinner.
Hit-and-run: 7:58 p.m., 9700 block of NE Juanita Drive. A 65-year-old woman was taken into custody after a witness said she saw the woman drive over raised curbing into a median. She then allegedly took the median sign and continued driving.
