The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between June 23-29, the Kirkland Police Department reported 348 traffic violations (two DUIs), 12 traffic accidents, 40 noise complaints, 11 thefts, three domestic violence calls, 28 alarms, 12 motor vehicle prowls, six burglaries, 12 disturbances, five cases of fraud, eight harassment calls, three malicious mischief cases, eight civil issues, one assault and seven animal control calls. At least 32 people were arrested.
June 29
Warrant arrest: 4 a.m., 9900 N.E. 126th Street. Kirkland police received a report of possible verbal or physical disturbance at an apartment. When they arrived police found three men playing a card game when voices were raised. It was also reported that one of the men had fell down the stairs and hit his head on a door knob and all parties corroborated the event. A sweep of the apartment revealed a 19-year-old man hiding in an upstairs closet. The man had a warrant for his arrest.
Warrant arrest: 3:55 a.m., 11400 N.E. 124th Street. A 28-year-old Kirkland man was contacted on the street and was arrested for his outstanding warrant.
June 27
Theft: 4:28 a.m., 211 Parkplace Center. A theft of beer occurred at QFC Parkplace. An employee reported the suspects vehicle license plate number. Five suspects were located and arrested for theft and minor in posession.
June 28
DUI: 12:01 a.m., 10106 N.E. 116th Place. A 55-year-old Kirkland man was contacted after a citizen observed him attempting to pick his motorcycle up after falling over. The man was arrested and provided a blood alcohol content of .232.
June 26
Warrant arrest: 2:15 p.m., 6811 132nd Ave. N.E. A 46-year-old Kirkland man was stopped and arrested on his Bellevue warrant for driving with a suspended license.
Theft: 3:15 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. N.E. Fred Meyer loss prevention observed a 23-year-old Kirkland man cut open packaging to an iPod charger and USB cable valued at $46.98. The man then concealed the items in his right front pants pocket, walk out of the electronics department and out of the North entrance without paying.
Minor, liquor violation: 7:37 p.m., 5800 Lake Washington Boulevard N.E. A disturbance was observed by a witness near Houghton Beach Park. The witness observed two of the involved parties enter a truck parked on N.E. 59th Street. The witness identified the truck by its license plate. A Kirkland police officer contacted the two occupants of the truck and found them to be minors in consumption of alcohol and both were arrested.
Traffic offense: 8:28 p.m., 12400 Totem Lake Boulevard N.E. A 37-year-old Kirkland man was contacted for jay walking after he walked away from his motorcycle in the Rite Aid parking lot. Upon contact the man provided the officer with a false name and date of birth. After the officer figured out the identity of the man he was arrested for driving with a suspended license, failure to cooperate and five associated warrants.
June 25
Disorderly conduct: 1:45 a.m., 108 Kirkland Ave. A fight outside of George’s left a broken window to the business.
Disorderly conduct: 1:25 p.m., 100 Central Way. A victim and witness reported that a 52-year-old Kirkland man was driving in a willful and wanton disregard for the safety of others, engaged in disorderly conduct and unlawfully menaced others. The man was located and detained at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident.
Theft: 5:12 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. A 54-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for shoplifting after he was observed concealing a $197 Beatles CD set underneath his shirt.
