The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between June 10-15, the Kirkland Police Department reported 402 traffic violations (two DUIs), 17 traffic accidents, 14 noise complaints, 11 thefts, three domestic violence calls, 17 alarms, 11 motor vehicle prowls, four burglaries, 14 disturbances, eight cases of fraud, 11 harassment calls, three malicious mischief cases, eight civil issues, two assaults and four animal control calls. At least 29 people were arrested.
June 15
Informational report: 9:54 a.m., 128th Lane N.E. A business called the Kirkland Police Department to report that a Nintendo DS in for repair contained child pornography. After review, the KPD determined that the photos of a boy around 10 years old were self taken and there was no evidence of abuse. The item was returned to the boy.
June 14
Prostitution: 5:20 p.m., 12600 block of 100th Ave. N.E. An officer followed up an anonymous report. The reporting party stated that he had patronized a prostitute at a Kirkland address. The man gave his name but refused to give his date of birth to the officer. The man said that he had befriended the woman and paid her for oral sex. He stated that he did this several times at the Kirkland address. The man said that the alleged prostitute did not have a Craigslist add or a Web site. But the man said to reach the woman there was a Web site that he did a search on and described the subject as a white female, five foot eight inches tall, 140 pounds. The man said the woman is about 40 years old and had two young children at the home, which she stated were hers.
Theft: A woman was caught shoplifting $197.08 worth of jeans from Costco.
June 13
Harassment/Assault: 3:05 a.m., State Street South and Kirkland Ave. A 29-year-old Kirkland man called a 15-year-old homeless boy a racial slur several times before punching him in the head. The Kirkland man reportedly ranted unintelligibly when contacted, refused to identify himself and resisted arrest.
Domestic: 10 a.m., 10800 block of N.E. 68th Street. Verbal domestic violence was reported between a mother and son. Brother of the husband was contacted to mediate the situation. No crime occurred and the incident was documented.
Warrant arrest: 3:01 p.m., 11800 98th Ave. N.E. A 37-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on a $2,500 reckless endangerment warrant out of Everett.
June 12
Minor, liquor violation: 2:27 a.m., 300 block of Central Way. A 16-year-old Kirkland boy was contacted after personnel at the Parkplace QFC reported a theft by a subject matching his description. The boy provided a breath sample of .136 blood alcohol content and was arrested for minor in possession. QFC did not want to press charges and no stolen items were located.
Traffic offense: 9:25 a.m. A 30-year-old Bellevue man was arrested on a driving with a suspended license warrant out of Kirkland. He was also again cited for driving with a suspended license.
Weapons: 6 a.m., 1200 N.E. 124th Street. Dispatcher received a 911 call from someone outside the Kirkland Denny’s reporting that a 25-year-old man was yelling he had a gun and saying he was going to “kill everyone.” The woman did not see a weapon but saw two other men with him trying to calm him down. The man then walked into the restaurant. Police contacted the man and no weapon was found.
June 11
Warrant arrest: 4:04 p.m., N.E. 121st Lane. A 16-year-old Kirkland girl was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Assault: 10:50 p.m., 12200 block of N.E. Totem Lake Way. A 20-year-old man was contacted as the passenger in a car and arrested for second degree assault after he fled the Totem Lake Cinema after cutting a 25-year-old Everett man with a knife during a fight. The man was also in possession of alcohol, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Theft: 1 p.m., 12221 120th Ave. N.E. A 40-year-old Bellevue man was observed by Fred Meyer loss prevention selecting various items from the electronics department, hiding them in his jacket and walking out of the electronics department. The man set off alarms and continued to walk out of the main entrance of the store where he was detained. The man was arrested for third degree theft.
June 10
Theft: 6:30 p.m., 500 block of Sixth Street. An unknown suspect stole an old Dell laptop computer from a business. There was no sign of forced entry.
June 8
Theft: 12 p.m., 11600 132nd Ave. N.E. A 33-year-old man had his wallet stolen from an unsecured room at the school.
